Migrante Canada stands in unwavering solidarity with all workers currently on strike across Canada. From coast to coast, workers are taking collective action to demand justice, dignity, and fair treatment in the workplace. This fight is not just for better wages and working conditions but also for the recognition of their immense contributions to society.
In Canada, thousands of workers are on strike to demand fair treatment. Canada Post workers, represented by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), are fighting for wage increases aligned with inflation, enhanced benefits, improved health and safety measures, and job security. Over 9,300 railway workers with the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference from Canadian National Railway (CN) and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) are calling for better wages, benefits, and safer working conditions amid labor contract expirations. Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 2 members at Vancouver International Airport are demanding better wages and benefits to reflect their vital role in keeping the airport running smoothly. Jet fuel transport workers at Vancouver International Airport have issued strike notices to push for fair wages and working conditions. In Toronto, Fairmont Royal York Hotel workers, represented by UNITE HERE Local 75, also went on strike to demand fair wages as employees have not seen an increase since 2021. They also called for improved working conditions, primarily to reverse labour cuts. Similarly, port workers in Vancouver and Montreal are negotiating for fair wages and improved working conditions, significantly impacting supply chains across the nation.

The call for better wages resonates deeply not just in Canada but also in the Philippines, where workers continue to demand an increase from a dismally low minimum wage to a just and livable family wage. Filipino workers, whether at home or abroad, share a common fight against exploitation and unjust labor conditions. The active participation of Filipino workers in unions across Canada—asserting their rights and fighting for better working conditions—is a reflection of the same determination shown by workers in the Philippines. From picket lines in Vancouver to rallies in Metro Manila, the message is clear: collective action is the key to victory.
Under the global neoliberal agenda, workers face the same oppressive policies designed to benefit imperialist powers and corporations at the expense of labor. Neoliberalism’s push for deregulation, privatization, and austerity has only deepened the exploitation of workers worldwide. Yet, workers everywhere continue to rise, united in their struggle for justice. The victories of workers on strike—won through pickets, rallies, and strikes—are victories for all workers. Solidarity is our most powerful weapon. The struggles of Canadian workers mirror the resistance of Filipino workers against systemic oppression. Migrante Canada commends the Filipino workers in Canada who, by standing firm in their rights, exemplify the spirit of collective resistance.

Migrante Canada will always stand on the side of workers. We pledge our support to all striking workers and their unions, and we call on our members and allies to join in solidarity actions. Together, let us amplify the call for wage justice, from Canada’s demand for fair wages to the Philippines’ call for a family living wage. We demand improved working conditions and the unassailable right to organize for all workers. Workers of the world, unite! In solidarity, we can achieve victories against exploitation and oppression. Let us stand together in the fight for all workers.
Migrante Canada will forever be on the side of workers, both here in Canada and in the Philippines.
The Workers, United, Will Never Be Defeated!#
