JOBS, AID, SERVICE to the Filipino People!

OUST DUTERTE NOW!

TRABAHO, AYUDA, SERBISYO para sa mamamayang Pilipino!

OUST DUTERTE NA!

For Immediate release

December 5th, 2020

Migrante Canada joins the thousands of Filipino migrant workers and their families in observing the 10 Days of Global Days of Action to highlight our demands for better Jobs, Aid, Services, and the Ouster Duterte! During this pandemic, the Duterte regime has shown its true interest to continue to terrorize and steal from the Filipino people. The outright sale of our national sovereignty to imperialist nations such as China and the US continues to bring more misery to our nation.

Duterte and his administration have failed to adequately and swiftly respond to the COVID 19 pandemic. It's failures to immediately heed the call of the People for Mass testing and not closing off our borders has led to more cases and even deaths amongst our citizens. Meanwhile overseas, repatriation of Overseas Filipino Workers has also been lengthy and slow. Thousands of OFWs were stranded in quarantine facilities with below standard housing and accommodations. "Parang basura na nasa tabi". Funds from the government stimulus packages such as the BAYANIHAN to Heal as One and Recover as One act has never made it to our kababayans! These funds that were supposed to aid our countrymen in the middle of this pandemic were mostly pocketed by Duterte and his corrupt officials.

In Canada, with thousands of Filipino migrant workers losing their jobs due to massive layoffs, the government assistance DOLE AKAP has only served a minuscule percentage of the large Filipino migrant communities across Canada. Our communities once again are left for themselves to mobilize and extend various forms of relief efforts to one another in the absence of government action.

In the national budget for 2021, we see no increases in the budget allocation to key agencies such as the DOH, DSWD, and DOLE - agencies who are responsible for addressing health care, employment, and social welfare ever crucial during this pandemic. The DFA which is among the top 10 agencies in revenue generated each year continues to be underfunded. This is where Assistance to National funds are procured for OFWs in distress. Meanwhile, the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict and Duterte's confidential intelligence budget received a 3000% boost in 2021. It is clear that this administration is more concerned in its effort to quell Peoples resistance than to address the genuine and immediate issues of our people.

Today, we join thousands of Filipino workers and people's organizations as we reiterate our call for better jobs, aid, and services to the Filipino people! Migrante Canada will continue to seek accountability and expose the anti-people, anti-migrant policies of the US- Duterte regime. In the wake of a pandemic and calamities, our SAGIP Migrante relief ops continue to seek relief from kababayans to distribute them to those who are in distress. We do this while educating and mobilizing our kababayans outside of the Philippines on the roots of causes of migration.

We also vehemently oppose any attempts to discredit the legitimate works of our people's organization through the state's red-tagging campaign. As representatives of people's organizations, freedom to assembly, freedom to protest, and the rights to assembly are well within our constitutional rights. These are fundamental rights that we enjoy both at home and abroad. Furthermore, we seek to amplify our call to immediately rechannel the 19B pesos funds of the NTF ELCAC towards health care, social aid, and education!

Trabaho sa Pinas Hindi sa labas!

PROVIDE JOBS AND LIVELIHOOD NOW!

SCRAP THE LEP!

SOCIAL AID FOR ALL.

REMOVE THE NTF-ELCAC BUDGET!

HEALTH, SOCIAL AID AND EDUCATION

SHOULD BE TOP PRIORITY IN 2021

STOP THE KILLINGS!

STOP MILITARIZING THE BUREAUCRACY!

OUST DUTERTE!
